Creative Escapade

Starting Spring 2026, offered every 12 weeks.
Cost: €1,000 + €500 accommodation per participant.

• You will enjoy a tour of Goethe’s childhood home, with an introduction to his life and works. This will include a short introductory talk about „Faust“ and the significance of the text. We will engage in group discussions on your prior knowledge and feelings toward „Faust“,  meditative sketch sessions to begin connecting with the themes, such as Faust’s desire for growth and knowledge.
• You will create visual representations of ambition and the quest for knowledge, which could include abstract painting and sketching, and/or writing exercises. Other questions that will be addressed are: What does Faust’s pact symbolize in modern life? How can this be translated into art? How can you express the feelings of desire, temptation, and moral conflict?
• We will talk about Goethe’s portrayal of Mephistopheles as a tempter. How can such a complex figure be embodied in art? You couldchoose to create representations of this character, or create a symbolic representation of Gretchen’s purity and Faust’s guilt. 
• You can explore how  any of these themes relates to modern social and/or personal struggles. 

Note: The retreat is exclusive to only three residents at a time and it will be conducted in English, unless the group is completely Spanish- or German speaking.
